WAR! Israel VS. ME
Israel Sends Ground Forces Into Lebanon
BEIRUT, Lebanon — The militant group Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers during clashes Wednesday across the border in southern Lebanon, prompting a swift reaction from Israel, which sent ground forces into its neighbor to look for them.
The forces were trying to keep the soldiers' captors from moving them deeper into Lebanon, Israeli government officials said on condition of anonymity.
The Israeli military would not confirm the report.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called an emergency Cabinet meeting and said Lebanese guerrillas would pay a "heavy price" for Wednesday's attacks.
"These are difficult days for the state of Israel and its citizens," Olmert said. "There are people ... who are trying to test our resolve. They will fail and they will pay a heavy price for their actions."
That news broke early this morning. Then,
Bomb Destroys Palestinian Foreign Ministry
A bomb dropped by an Israeli warplane destroyed the Palestinian Foreign Ministry building in Gaza City early Thursday.
The bomb collapsed the building and caused widespread destruction in the area. The Palestinian foreign minister is Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar.
The Israeli military confirmed it carried out an airstrike on the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, noting that it is "led by Hamas."
At least three people were wounded in the strike, which took place after 1:30 a.m. The injured were in neighboring buildings, and it was not known if anyone was in the ministry at the time. Ambulances and rescue services were racing to the scene.
Houses and cars in the area were badly damaged by the force of the blast, and the third and fourth floors of the foreign ministry building were destroyed.
Israel has been waging a two-week offensive in Gaza after Hamas-linked militants carried out a cross-border raid, killing two Israeli soldiers and capturing a third. Early Wednesday, an Israeli aircraft dropped a quarter-ton bomb on a house in Gaza City where Hamas commanders were meeting, killing nine members of a family.
Earlier this month Israeli warplanes attacked the Hamas-controlled Interior Ministry twice, causing considerable damage.
I don't have a link yet, but it seems now that Israel is also hitting Beirut International Airport. And if all this wasn't enough, Japan is actually considering military action against North Korea.
"If we accept that there is no other option to prevent an attack ... there is the view that attacking the launch base of the guided missiles is within the constitutional right of self-defense. We need to deepen discussion," Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said.
"It's irresponsible to do nothing when we know North Korea could riddle us with missiles," echoed Tsutomu Takebe, secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. "We should consider measures, including legal changes" required for such an attack, he said.
Can you blame them? After all, if NK's missles fall short (as they most certainly will) Japan is sitting right in the line of fire between NK and us.
Israel is tired of the radical muslims in the ME, and Asia is tired of NK. Full scale war seems inevitable at this point.

Jesus not allowed
My question to you secularists is, how can you be offended by something you don't believe in? Are you offended by the tooth fairy also? Dragons maybe? How about hobbits, I know I've always found them to be personally offensive, smelly too. C'mon people, get a grip:
Ahem, and I quote:
What part of "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" do they not understand? If you don't believe in God then you simply don't pay attention during the speech. Nobody's forcing you to pray. Instead, put on makeup, talk on the phone, pick your nose or just sit there and drool for a while. It doesn't matter, but that fact is you're rights are not being violated by someone mentioning God or Jesus in a speach. Grow up for crying out loud.
The message was nearly silenced when valedictorian Miriam Cattanach submitted her speech to school officials. She was swiftly informed that any reference to religion, God or Jesus must be expunged.
Thankfully, Miriam and her family are fighters. They contacted the Orlando-based Liberty Counsel, which is headed by Mathew Staver. Liberty Counsel has been involved in many similar cases and has helped many students win their rights of religious expression.
Mr. Staver quickly sent off a letter to the superintendent and school principal, informing them that their attempt to censor Miriam's speech was wholly unconstitutional. (This is a message that a multitude of uninformed school officials need to understand.)
Ahem, and I quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof
So much for private property rights...
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies evicted people from an urban community garden to make room for a warehouse Tuesday, touching off a furious protest in which actress Daryl Hannah and others climbed into a walnut tree or chained themselves to concrete-filled barrels. At least 39 people were arrested.
Authorities cut away branches and used a fire truck lift to bring down the "Splash" actress and another tree-sitter, who raised their fists as they were removed. It was not immediately clear whether Hannah was under arrest.
"I'm very confident this is the morally right thing to do, to take a principled stand in solidarity with the farmers," Hannah said by cell phone before a fire truck raised officers into the tree. (Watch Daryl Hannah explain why she's up a tree -- 7:26)
About 350 people grow produce and flowers on the 14 acres of privately owned land, in an inner-city area surrounded by warehouses and railroad tracks. The garden has been there for more than a decade, but the landowner, Ralph Horowitz, now wants to replace it with a warehouse.
Ralph Horowitz pays $5 mil for this property, and is then told he can't do anything with it because a bunch of sorry ass freeloaders are "squatting"? What a total crock of shit. What it doesn't mention is that the group called Mr. Horowitz shortly after he bought the property and asked for 30 days to reap their crops and leave. He agreed, not knowing what they were really doing was lawyer shopping. These yahoos have lived on this land free of charge for almost 15 years and are now demanding that they be allowed to continue to live there for free. After 15 years of what amounts to the proverbial free lunch, you don't bitch and moan, you say "thank you". Communist fucking douchebags.
Colorado, you are lucky to have this man!!
God bless ya Ted Harvey. And this my friends, sums up in a nutshell, why I am anti-abortion. Especially the horrific and cowardly ass act that is late-term abortions abortions:
Burn in hell, planned parenthood. I hope it hurts.
Mr. Speaker, members, if you would allow me just a few more moments I would appreciate your time.
My name is Ted Harvey, not Paul Harvey, but, please, let me tell you the rest of the story.
The cause of Gianna's cerebral palsy is not because of some biological freak of nature, but rather the choice of her mother.
You see when her biological mother was 17-years-old and 7-and-a-half months pregnant, she went to a Planned Parenthood clinic to seek a late-term abortion. The abortionist performed a saline abortion on this 17-year-old girl. This procedure requires the injection of a high concentration of saline into the mother's womb, which the fetus is then bathed in and swallows, which results in the fetus being burned to death, inside and out. Within 24 hours the results are normally an induced, still-born abortion.
As Gianna can testify, the procedure is not always 100 percent effective. Gianna is an aborted late-term fetus who was born alive. The high concentration of saline in the womb for 24 hours resulted in a lack of oxygen to her brain and is the cause of her cerebral palsy.
Members, today, we are going to recognize the 90th anniversary of Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood…"
Burn in hell, planned parenthood. I hope it hurts.

Party of Peace my Ass!!!
More liberal tolerance in action:
The kids and parents of these little thugs should be taken out and publicly flogged for a long, long time.
New liberal strategy: Assault 7-year-olds
Liberals in Lexington, Mass., have taken to beating up the 7-year-old children of their political opponents.
This disgusting tactic should be featured on the front pages of every newspaper across the nation, yet you've heard nary a word about it.
Here are the specs:
A number of months ago, as first reported by yours truly, Superintendent Paul Ash decided to have his second-grade teachers begin reading a "fairy tale" about two princes getting it on homosexual style to be read in the classrooms under his direction. The book was called "King and King."
In reaction, parents from the Estabrook School decided to plead with Ash as to whether this book should be allowed. The all-powerful Ash laughed and went on his way.
Somewhat disheartened by this response, the parents then made the completely over-the-top request of being notified when such material would be presented in the classroom – especially if it knowingly violated their conscience and their religious convictions.
Growing somewhat angry, the all-powerful Ash shot the parents a verbal middle finger by retorting, "Estabrook has no legal obligation to notify parents about the book. We couldn't run a public school system if every parent who feels some topic is objectionable to them for moral or religious reasons decides their child should be removed. Lexington is committed to teaching children about the world they live in, and in Massachusetts same-sex marriage is legal."
This profane sort of arrogance didn't sit well with one of the parents by the name of David Parker. He went to the school to discuss it directly with Ash. When Parker refused to leave without being heard by the all-powerful Ash, he was arrested. Remember, Parker's only request was to be notified when homosexuality or transgenderism was to be discussed.
Word spread amongst the liberal activist groups around the area. Nasty letters began to be written to local newspapers in an effort to get Parker to back down. When that didn't work, a nasty website was created to spread the anti-Parker venom via the Internet and rally the call to other activist groups nationwide.
On the day of Parker's hearing, the Ash/Nasty coalition turned out dozens of adults to demonstrate hate-filled nastiness against Parker as he entered and exited the courthouse – all in an attempt to get him to shut up. The nasties even convinced the school district to post anti-Parker newspaper stories on the bulletin boards throughout the schools as another means of intimidation.
None of it worked!
Instead, on April 27 Parker and another family from the school district filed a federal civil-rights suit against the school district. This made Ash and the other nasties even angrier, and some of them decided to get even.
At the courthouse hearings and many of the protests outside Parker's home, the nasties had used children to hold up hateful signs and demonstrate alongside their nasty parents. They also recruited young children to participate in angry anti-Parker demonstrations outside the school and to engage in letter-writing campaigns.
But on May 17, they crossed the line.
That was the day that 10 of these thug-kins grabbed David Parker's 7-year-old son, dragged him behind the corner of the school, well out of sight from school officials, and proceeded to punch him in the groin, stomach and chest, before he dropped to the ground when they then kicked and stomped on him. Several of the alleged thug-kins were children of the adults who had been protesting Parker, several of them not even in the same class as Parker's child. It also needs to be pointed out that May 17 was a targeted date because that is the anniversary of changing the marriage definitions in the state of Massachusetts to include homosexual unions. Emotions among many activists were running very high on that day.
The school district "investigated" and did determine that the attack was pre-meditated. Shockingly, they decided no punishment necessary for the 10 thug-kins who were serving as political hit men for the activists in Lexington.
All of this happening because one father wished to reserve the right to teach his own family's faith-based views on sexuality.
I support the lawsuit David Parker is bringing against Ash and the Estabrook School District. Standing up is always the right thing to do. His legal fees are growing, and if you are interested in making a donation to help – as I have – I would encourage you to. I would also encourage you to drop an e-mail to Paul Ash or place a phone call – either way, it is obvious that Ash believes that he is unaccountable to the parents of his district. Paul Ash's e-mail address is pash@sch.ci.lexington.ma.us. His phone number at the school is (781) 861-2550.
It's also very sad that Ash's compadres have sunk to the level of assaulting the 7-year-old child of David Parker in their attempts to shut him up.
But then again, liberals don't believe in absolutes, morality or the law – so why should we be surprised?
The kids and parents of these little thugs should be taken out and publicly flogged for a long, long time.

$1.4 Billion Went to Fraudulent Aid for Katrina Victims
Gee, who could've possibly seen this coming?
Read the rest of the story, but I promise you that you won't be surprised. Just disappointed. I remember reading last year (sorry, no link) that of all the students in public schools receiving free lunch, about 80% were receiving it fraudulently. THe problem with these programs is that people stand there with their hands out to the government, expecting the govt to "get it done" for them, and the govt is relying on people to be decent and honest. There are just too many dishonest and indecent people out there. Most of them in Washington (generalization there, not a comment on current or any particular administration). This is why govt programs are always doomed to failure before they ever start. They rely on two things that are too unreliable. Government/beaurocratic efficiency, and common human decency.
WASHINGTON — The government doled out as much as $1.4 billion in bogus assistance to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, getting hoodwinked to pay for season football tickets, a tropical vacation and even a divorce lawyer, congressional investigators have found.
Prison inmates, a supposed victim who used a New Orleans cemetery for a home address, and a person who spent 70 days at a Hawaiian hotel all were able to wrongly get taxpayer help, according to evidence that gives a new black eye to the nation's disaster relief agency.

Doctors call for 'fat tax' on Coca-Cola and Pepsi
You know that term, "slippery slope" that I've (and many other conservatives) used in the past? Well, here it comes my friends:
They put a tax on cigs, and said it's ok, they're bad for you. They did to alchohol and said it's ok they're bad for you. Now, it's your soda, then? Perhaps pizza? Candy bars? But it's ok, they're just doing it for your own good. Remember, the federal govt knows what's best for us.

Doctors will this week declare war on America's soft drinks industry by calling for a 'fat tax' to combat the nation's obesity epidemic.
Delegates at the powerful American Medical Association's annual conference will demand a levy on the sweeteners put in sugary drinks to pay for a massive public health education campaign.
They will also call for the amount of salt added to burgers and processed foods to be halved.
The moves come as U.S. doctors - like their British counterparts - are becoming increasingly alarmed at the growing number of deaths linked to obesity.
The resolution will put doctors on a collision course with Coca-Cola and Pepsi, plus the likes of McDonald's and Burger King.

First they came for the alcohol,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an alcohol drinker.
Then they came for the hunting equipment,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a hunter.
Then they came for the guns,

Then they came for my Big Mac and Large Coke,
and there was nobody left to speak up for me.

"English-only" eatery faces probe
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - A civil rights watchdog agency opened an investigation on Monday into a Philadelphia cheese steak restaurant that posted a sign saying "This is America - when ordering, speak English."
The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations complaint effectively opens a case against Geno's Steaks of South Philadelphia, said Rachel Lawton, acting executive director of the agency.
The Philadelphia controversy has fed a national debate over immigration in which the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would declare English the national language and politicians have raised objections to a Spanish version of the national anthem.
The sign may violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance, which bans businesses from discriminating on the basis of nationality or ethnicity, Lawton said.
So a business man is persecuted for dictating the terms on which he does business? Gee, I thought this was a capitalist country.....
There's no discrimination going on here. He's not telling any ethnic groups they can't order there. He's simply saying he refuses to conform to thier language in his own country, at his own business. And kudos to him I say. This is after all America. Why should I have to press 1 to proceed to the next menu?

I must be slipping
There was a time, many many moons ago that if you googled/yahood/msn'd/or asked jeeves about the term "fuckbag", I was the first listing, and usually a few more after that. Well, I'm sad to say that is no longer the case. Mabye I'm losing my touch, maybe I'm not angry enough anymore. Maybe I'm just numb to it all now. But I promise I will do everything in my power to be number one again!!!
Question for you libs.
For all you liberals out there screaming we should get out of Iraq, that we can't win, I have a question for you. The lefts idol, Bubba Clinton sent American troops into Bosnia. When are we going to get out? We can't win there. (that last sentiment was sarcasm) And why did we go into Bosnai? Evil mulsim dictator killing lots of innocent people...hmmm..where have I heard that before? On a side note, how long did it take us to get out of Germany and Japan after WWII? Or how about Korea for that matter? Oh yeah, WE'RE STILL THERE!!!!!!

I have to say that I personally think it's about time for laws like this. Pedophiles are not rehabilitable and in prison are just a drain on the economy. Put them out of our misery I say.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma on Friday became the fifth state to allow the death penalty for certain sex crimes, although legal scholars questioned the constitutionality of the new state law.
Under the measure signed by Gov. Brad Henry, anyone convicted twice for rape, sodomy or lewd molestation involving children under 14 can face the death penalty.
South Carolina's governor signed a similar law on Thursday allowing the death penalty for offenders convicted twice of raping children younger than 11. Louisiana, Florida and Montana also have laws allowing the death penalty for certain sex crimes.
Defense attorneys and death penalty experts said the laws defy recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions that have scaled back the death penalty's application.
Barbara Bergman, president of the Washington-based National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said Supreme Court decisions have made it clear that the death penalty is reserved for someone who has taken another life.
"I'm not saying that raping a child is not a horrible crime, but no one has died," said Bergman, who was part of the defense team that avoided the death penalty for Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols following his 2004 conviction on 161 murder counts.

AP: U.S. to Give Iran Nuclear Technology
Jun 06 11:01 AM US/Eastern
By GEORGE JAHN
Associated Press Writer
VIENNA, Austria
A package of incentives presented Tuesday to Iran includes a provision for the United States to supply Tehran with some nuclear technology if it stops enriching uranium _ a major concession by Washington, diplomats said.
The offer was part of a series of rewards offered to Tehran by European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, according to the diplomats, who were familiar with the proposals and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were disclosing confidential details of the offer.
The package was agreed on last week by the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia _ the five veto-wielding members of the U.N. Security Council, plus Germany, in a bid to resolve the nuclear standoff with Iran.

Treat me like I'm black, sez Teddy's son
BY MICHAEL McAULIFF and CORKY SIEMASZKO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS
Fresh from rehab, Rep. Patrick Kennedy said yesterday he wants to be treated like an African-American from Washington if and when he gets charged for crashing his car on Capitol Hill.
Denying that he was drunk and or that he asked the Capitol Police for preferential treatment, Kennedy, a Rhode Island congressman, said he's prepared "in terms of bookings, in terms of mug shots, fingerprints, whatever they might have me do."
"It's what anyone else would have done to them if they were an African-American in Anacostia," Kennedy said in a shaky voice, referring to the mostly minority neighborhood in southeastern Washington.
Later, Kennedy fretted that "there are probably people who want to throw the book at me a little more to prove that they're not treating me special."
It's still not clear whether Kennedy will be called to account for smashing his Ford Mustang into a barrier near the Capitol building at 2:45 a.m. on May 4. He was driving without headlights and nearly collided with a police cruiser.

Movie reviews:
Been a busy week, hence no postings. But I thought I would take a few mins and share my thoughts on the movies I've caught over the last week.
Napolean Dynamite:
In short, don't see this movie. I only watched the first hour, and for it being one of the funniest movies ever (according to my friend that talked me into watching it) I never cracked a smile. This movie blew major chunks. It simply wasn't funny. At all. Anyone who thinks it was is obviously suffering from some sever psychological disorder and should seek help. So if you're reading this and saying to yourself "Man, I thought Napolean Dynamite was a funny movie, am I suffering from sever psychological problems?", the answer is yes. You should seek help immediately.
X-Men 3:
I was a little disappointed with X3. Bryan Singer's absence was painfully apparent (he was buys doing Superman Returns). It wasn't a bad movie, just not as good as I expected. First off, there was no Nightcrawler. They made a big deal out of putting Angel in there, but didn't really do anything with him. He was just special effects candy. Cyclops/Scott Summers bites it in the beginning, Xavier about halfway through. Don't get me wrong, I expect and like that there are casualties throughout the movie. Keeps it real, but come on....it doesn't have to be about Wolverine all the time. Also, I don't believe they did a good job with the whole phoenix/Jean Grey scenario. On the plus side though, the special effects were great. Kelsey Grammer was fantastic as Beast/Hank McCoy, and Ian McKellen was as awesome as ever. I hate to admit it but I also enjoyed the ongoing love story between Rogue and Iceman. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad movie, and I will own it on DVD. It just live up to it's potential in my opinion.

Original message
After 3 Memorial Days in Iraq, I no longer "support" the troops.
Shortly after the war in Iraq started, my wife's nephew, a Florida National Guardsman, was shipped off to Baghdad. He didn't particularly want to be there, but he's a young guy and it was an adventure so he didn't complain. His politics (if a twenty-something can truly be said to understand politics) seem to be conservative, and he came back, in 2004, uninjured and upbeat. Mostly he told stories of Hajji and the little kids he played soccer with.
My wife's other nephew, who was regular army, was moved from his deployment in South Korea to Iraq, but he only stayed there for about three months before his discharge. He came back very negative about the whole thing.
At this point, I don't think there are too many kids like those two over there still who joined up to get money for college and to help clean up after hurricanes. I may be wrong. If so, I wish them the best and hope they get home safely. Everyone else I know of in the armed services (not too many people, frankly) joined well after 9/11, and did so knowing full well what they were getting into.
I hope they all die or get maimed.
There. I've said it!
This war (in Iraq - I'm gonna leave Afghanistan out of this rant. For now.) is totally illegal and totally immoral and totally wrong on every level and in my humble and maybe misguided opinion, anyone who joins in voluntarily is a criminal against humanity and deserves the worst and most painful fate a human being can suffer. I'm sorry if anyone reading this has loved ones participating in that carnage, it's nothing personal. I just feel that at this point, it's clear what's happening, and I feel that anyone going into it voluntarily should suffer. And frankly - that goes double for those privatized Blackwater type scumbags, and the private sector "I'm gonna go and make a fortune rebuilding" types. Die, Scum!
Maybe I've picked the wrong day to say this, but the truth is, as "liberal" (or as I prefer to call myself - progressive) as I may be, I am a Patriotic American and what my country is doing in the world right now disgusts me. As my tagline says, "I'm as mad as HELL and I'm not going to take this anymore!" and at this point I'm not afraid to say what I feel. I don't care if Ann Coulter uses this as an example to say "See? Liberals hate America!" I don't hate America, I hate America acting like a murderous tyrant. And it takes actual people to carry out those actions. People who I hope suffer for those actions.
The "War on Terror" is a fear-mongering, money-making scam like the "War on Drugs" was, and it's designed to NEVER actually be "won". Iraq was ALWAYS meant to be the newly-militarized base of operations for the Neo-Con dream of a Greater Israel, and for the oil-company dominated Middle-East. Yes, Saddam was a bad man. Big deal. There are lots of bad men. Let's go and get them, one at a time.
Radical Islam did not have to be dealt with like this. Just because a few people WANTED a war against the U.S. did not mean we had to hand it to them on a silver platter. Look, I got no problem with going out in the world and finding and killing the truly bad people. Really. There are bad people out there. I'm not a child. I understand this. I'm reacting to the fact that we've killed or maimed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of innocent human beings in the process (including a lot of kids who joined the military to get money for college and to help clean up after hurricanes), and that we've created HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of new enemies as a result. It did not have to be like this. We could have chosen a different path.
It's Memorial Day. Get out there in the sunshine and remember what the United States of America used to be like, when it was a beacon of light shining in the world!
The post has since gone down the skinner (the DU admin) hole, but luckily, our good friends at CU have it screencapped:

World Jump Day
All I can say is, I really hope this is just a giant gimmick and these tools aren't really serious.
Memorial Day: More than just a great BBQ
There's nothing wrong with going to the beach, firing up the grill and throwing back a few beers this weekend. Indeed I think everyone should be enjoying themselves to the fullest this weekend. But let's not forgot what it is we are celebrating this weekend. We are honoring those who have served, given and sacrificed for this great country. Memorial day is the one day where our vets are honored the way they should be honored each and every day. To those we are serving and have served, God bless each and every one of you.

Your kids are being indoctrinated!!
The 9th circuis court recently handed down a ruling allowing prayer in public schools in Kalifornia. Not just prayer, but a whole host of religious activities, including role-playing excercises that include chanting after teacher prompts and proclaiming that there is only one God.
But it's not the Christians that are indoctrinating you my friends. It's that wonder ROP(MA). That's right, we're not talking about Christian prayer, oh no, that's still not allowed.
Read it, and get pissed off (unless your a muslim, then do your happy dance of exploding children):
You know, I've read the book. I know how the story ends. Still doesn't make it any easier to watch.

Education: In our brave new schools, Johnny can't say the pledge, but he can recite the Quran. Yup, the same court that found the phrase "under God" unconstitutional now endorses Islamic catechism in public school.
In a recent federal decision that got surprisingly little press, even from conservative talk radio, California's 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled it's OK to put public-school kids through Muslim role-playing exercises, including:
Reciting aloud Muslim prayers that begin with "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful . . . ."
Memorizing the Muslim profession of faith: "Allah is the only true God and Muhammad is his messenger."
Chanting "Praise be to Allah" in response to teacher prompts.
Professing as "true" the Muslim belief that "The Holy Quran is God's word."
Giving up candy and TV to demonstrate Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
Designing prayer rugs, taking an Arabic name and essentially "becoming a Muslim" for two full weeks.
Parents of seventh-graders, who after 9-11 were taught the pro-Islamic lessons as part of California's world history curriculum, sued under the First Amendment ban on religious establishment. They argued, reasonably, that the government was promoting Islam.
But a federal judge appointed by President Clinton told them in so many words to get over it, that the state was merely teaching kids about another "culture."
So the parents appealed. Unfortunately, the most left-wing court in the land got their case. The 9th Circuit, which previously ruled in favor of an atheist who filed suit against the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, upheld the lower court ruling.
The decision is a major victory for the multiculturalists and Islamic apologists in California and across the country who've never met a culture or religion they didn't like — with the exception of Western civilization and Christianity. They are legally in the clear to indoctrinate kids into the "peaceful" and "tolerant" religion of Islam, while continuing to denigrate Judeo-Christian values.
In the California course on world religions, Christianity is not presented equally. It's covered in just two days and doesn't involve kids in any role-playing activities. But kids do get a good dose of skepticism about the Christian faith, including a biting history of its persecution of other peoples. In contrast, Islam gets a pass from critical review. Even jihad is presented as an "internal personal struggle to do one's best to resist temptation," and not holy war.
The ed consultant's name is Susan L. Douglass. No, she's not a Christian scholar. She's a devout Muslim activist on the Saudi government payroll, according to an investigation by Paul Sperry, author of "Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington." He found that for years Douglass taught social studies at the Islamic Saudi Academy just outside Washington, D.C. Her husband still teaches there.
So what? By infiltrating our public school system, the Saudis hope to make Islam more widely accepted while converting impressionable American youth to their radical cause. Recall that John Walker Lindh, the "American Taliban," was a product of the California school system. What's next, field trips to Mecca?
This case is critical not just to our culture but our national security. It should be brought before the Supreme Court, which has outlawed prayer in school. Let's see what it says about practicing Islam in class. It will be a good test for the bench's two new conservative justices.
You know, I've read the book. I know how the story ends. Still doesn't make it any easier to watch.
